Should I Repair or Replace?
At MrWindscreen® we always first try to repair your existing windscreen before replacing it with a new one. This approach is not only better for the environment, but also usually saves you both time and money.

Sometimes though, because of the size, type and position of the damage, the whole windscreen may need to be replaced.

Repair

If your motor insurance includes glass cover, then our 'good-as-new' windscreen repair is usually free of charge upon production of your insurance certificate (depending on the insurer). If you don't have glass cover, we'll let you know the cost in advance. Typically it will be between €65 and €100. Don't worry if you are not sure whether or not the damage on your windscreen can be repaired. When you call us to book an appointment we'll ask you some questions to help determine whether it can be repaired.

Replace

With our extensive range of windscreens, we can replace most windscreens with minimal delay.

Most fully comprehensive motor insurance policies also cover you for complete windscreen, side or rear glass replacement. Produce your insurance certificate at the time of fitting and you need only pay the policy excess (if applicable).

If your insurance doesn't cover you for windscreen replacement, the cost will depend on the type of glass you need for your vehicle. But don't worry; we won’t start work until we’ve given you a quote.

Why should I repair a chip?
A windscreen chip could turn into a crack at any time…

…often when you are least expecting it. If this happens when you are driving, it could have a serious effect on your safety.

Your windscreen provides up to 30% of the vehicle’s structural strength and the passenger airbag relies on the windscreen to provide support if the airbag deploys. Repairing a chip will result in your windscreen being as strong as before the damage happened.

Repairing a chip is quicker…

…A windscreen chip can be repaired in under 30 minutes.

You can get your chip repaired at any of our 37 branches nationwide or by requesting one of our technicians to visit you - at home, at work or wherever you are.

A repair is usually free…

…If you have fully comprehensive vehicle insurance, or vehicle insurance including glass cover, Allied Irish Windscreens can usually repair your windscreen for free.

What’s more, it won’t affect any a claims bonus that you may have.

Reduce the risk of failing NCT / MOT…

…a windscreen chip in the drivers line of vision, has only to be bigger than 10mm for your windscreen to fail its NCT/MOT.

It is hassle free…

MrWindscreen® will take care of all your paperwork for you if you are claiming the repair on your vehicle insurance. You do not have to deal with your insurance company at all

If there's anything for you to pay, you still don't need to contact your insurance company, as we are also able to collect the payment from you direct.
What will it cost?
Cost

In most instances, if you have glass cover on your vehicle insurance policy, your insurance company will pay. Most insurers recognise windscreen repair as a significant saving and on comprehensive policies they will pay for the whole cost of the repair, without any excess charge or effect on your no-claims bonus.

If your insurance doesn't cover you for windscreen replacement, the cost will depend on the type of glass you need for your vehicle.

MrWindscreen® works closely with the motor insurance industry, and has preferred supplier status with more insurance companies than any of our competitors, so we will look after all the paperwork. If there is anything to pay, we will always let you know in advance.
