WHAT DOES THE NCT REQUIRE? The NCT specifies a windscreen area within the drivers' immediate line of sight, which is known as 'Zone A'. If any crack or damage occurs in this area, it must be contained within a 10mm diameter. In addition, any combination of minor damage that, in the opinion of the examiner, seriously restricts the drivers' view will fail the NCT.
In addition to this 'Zone A' area of windscreen, NCT guidelines requires that any chip or crack within the remainder of the area swept by the windscreen wipers must be contained within a diameter of 40mm.
This diagram defines Zone A.
AIW will carry out a free inspection of your windscreen and advise whether it is likely to pass or fail the NCT.
HOW MrWindscreen® FIX IT… The Advanced Windscreen Repair System used by MrWindscreen® employs a special resin, which provides a bond that is slightly stronger than the glass itself but which has the same refractive index as glass. This is injected into the damaged area using a special tool and then clamped and set so that the resultant repair is almost invisible - and at less than half the cost of replacing a windscreen.
